The World Series offers many chances for baseball players to become heroes on the game’s biggest stage. One swing of the bat or one pitch can change a game or the entire series. However, one stolen base has made an impact on more than just the game of baseball, and it is specifically a benefit to those who have the munchies and want some free food. After all, we know from a recent study that Taco Bell is one of cannabis consumers’ favorite fast food restaurants.
Thanks to Houston Astros outfielder Cameron Maybin’s crunch-time stolen base in Game 2 of the World Series, Taco Bell will honor its “Steal A Base, Steal A Taco” promotion and give out free Doritos Locos Tacos at all participating Taco Bell locations in the United States from 2 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, November 1. Maybin stole second base for the Houston Astros in the 11th inning of Game 2. The Houston Astros went on to win the game in extra innings against the Los Angeles Dodgers, 7-6.
This is the sixth World Series in which Taco Bell will be giving away free tacos after beginning the promotion in 2007. Last year, Francisco Lindor stole second base in Game 1 to win free tacos for everyone. Maybin joins the ranks of other former taco heroes Lindor, Jacoby Ellsbury, Jason Bartlett, Ángel Pagán and Lorenzo Cain.
Major League Baseball spokesperson Noah Garden feels that the promotion can unify fans of opposing teams. “Everyone has their favorite team and favorite player, but free tacos are something all baseball fans can root for,” Garden said.
Game 7 of the 113th World Series is a winner-take-all situation. The game takes place Wednesday November 1 with the first pitch set for 5:20 p.m. on FOX. True Blue fever has taken over Los Angeles, since the last time the Dodgers won the World Series was in 1988. Whether you’re a fan of the Houston Astros or the Los Angeles Dodgers, it’s a game you shouldn’t miss. GO GIANTS!!!!!
