The newest trend in high-level executive culture is leaving one business for another—especially when seeking a career in the cannabis industry. Dave Peck, former Global Head of Social and Digital Media for PayPal, is just the latest to bite the mainstream dust. Peck has taken a position with cannabis compliance firm KIND Financial as their Chief Marketing Officer.
KIND Financial provides seed to sale software and technology for operating within the legal parameters of the industry. According to their website, KIND, “provides financial technology empowering the cannabis industry to transact safely, securely and in compliance.” With their cannabis tracking and compliance platform, Agrisoft Seed to Sale, they provide the necessary tools for countless cannabis businesses.
While Peck does pride himself in getting in on the ground floor in regards to this new industry, he does state that his role at KIND will focus more on the financial and legal aspect and less on the product itself.
For Peck, this move was anything but impetuous. In his prominent role at PayPal, Peck was vital in developing influencer relationships as well as the execution of integrated digital marketing. Earlier in his career, he played key roles in building online presence and social media strategies for huge brands like Coca-Cola, Wells Fargo and the Grammys. His entire career is built on strategy and knowing when to strike when the iron is hot which, based on his track record looks like a win for the cannabis industry.
