Las Vegas, Nevada Now Has Drive-Thru Dispensaries

The city of Las Vegas, Nevada was already known for having 24-hour dispensaries and having a unique take on cannabis culture. Now, Las Vegas also is home to drive-thru windows at dispensaries.

According to the The Washington Post, a dispensary in Las Vegas has opened up a drive-thru window, which is reportedly the first in the city. It is located on tribal land, but near the downtown area of Las Vegas. Like most dispensaries in the area, the location will be offering a variety of flower, edibles and concentrates.

The cannabis store is called NuWu Cannabis Marketplace, and according to the Las Vegas Sun, the service is specifically designed for disabled patients and those in wheelchairs who are unable to get out of their cars when they make a purchase.

“We want all customers to have that same experience of being able to get in and get out,” said Benny Tso, chairman of the Las Vegas Paiute Tribe. “It’s about speed and convenience.”

In order to make the drive-thru, the business converted an old bank teller window and transformed it into a budtender window. The glass separating budtenders from customers is bulletproof in order to ensure the safety of those working inside. The plan is to serve customers in less than one minute after their order is placed. The dispensary has even employed a few managers who have drive-thru fast food experience to make sure things go smoothly at the window.

“We just wanted to be able to play with the big dogs up here,” Tso said regarding the store’s place in the cannabis industry.

As the industry continues to grow and compete, other states and cities will surely find a way to implement this strategy as well. Since drive-thru windows are a possibility in Vegas, it seems to be only a matter of time before more businesses follow suit.
