Just seven days until CMJ Music Marathon kicks off and only a little over a week since The Mountain Goats dropped its latest LP Transcendental Youth. The record marks the 14th studio album released by the folk rock band formed in Claremont, Calif. Founder and lead Mountain Goat John Darnielle started the band solo teaming up with various friends and musicians (. . . and musician friends?) until 2001 when he recorded and toured extensively with Peter Hughes, whom he enlisted previously for a couple European tours. Darnielle will venture to NYC for four shows:
