YFC OG

Green as a Dublin meadow and sweet as the cheeks on a Derry lass, YFC OG is the Irish cousin of the American cannabis market—the freckle-faced relation that speaks the same language and yet is so very different from we’re used to having around. Named after the place where it’s the house specialty, Your Friendly Collective in South Central Los Angeles, YFC OG may be this summer’s best-kept secret. The vividly green (and entirely green, with not a red hair in sight) and spear-shaped nugs yield a smoke as clean as water off a glacier and just as smooth to the finish. The delicately fruity bouquet and flavor suggests summer fruit—cherries and peaches and nectarines—as if it were grown in an orchid instead of a field or pod. As with the best of indicas, YFC’s stone is syrupy and euphoric, washing over the central nervous system like waves in slow motion. The variety’s exact lineage is a mystery: You’d think it stemmed from an Eastern Kush, but the buds are so deeply and evenly green that one just can’t tell. But it’s definitely OG in intensity, and long-lasting enough to carry you from your 420 moment well into the late hours. For patients with nagging, needling pain, as from arthritis, neuropathy and back aches, that’s just the right ticket. It’s also exactly the thing for improving the appetite and relieving nausea.
