Highwayman

Of all the “supergroups” in music, only Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings and Kris Kristofferson can say they started “Outlaw Country,” a subgenre where these aging badasses went simply by the name “The Highwaymen.” Tierra Rojo of New House Seeds, one of the hottest breeders in Colorado right now, pays homage to the gents with his latest creation, Highwayman, a cross of Williams Wonder and his legendary Tang Tang. We picked up one of the first batches at Golden Goat in Denver and were not disappointed. Incredibly well cured, the buds almost have a brown tint to them. Don’t be confused, though; there’s just that much amber in these trichome heads, and each bud looks like they’ve been dipped into a vat of them. Breaking down a bowl releases a lot of rich smells, like a dark chocolate candy bar dipped into a cup of java. The Highwayman is a very introspective smoke, with sativa-like mental activity that will make you want to pick up a guitar and riff. Stick with this strain when you need to get things taken care of and can’t be slowed down by the aches and pains that come with life on the road.
