Super Silver Haze
For more reasons than one can count, Super Silver Haze is an enormously popular sativa—so much so that its quality can vary as growers scramble to produce it. Not so with the SSH we found at Tree House Collective in Seattle. Far from seeming cultivated and harvested at a mega-farm, Tree House’s variety has a boutique feel to it, as if its cultivists lovingly tended no other crop but this one. The Almond Joy-shaped buds are fluffy, perfectly trimmed and composed of loosely packed nugs. While its colors immediately inform you that it’s Haze (lush green with blood-orange hairs, dusted throughout with milk-white crystals), it’s like Haze writ large—the hues are bolder and the hairs broader than you’ll typically see in the strain. The bouquet and flavor are both pungent and shockingly sweet at once—we were reminded of the aroma of really good Chinese sweet-and-sour sauce. It’s a lung-expanding smoke, but surprisingly cool, which you can probably chalk up to its fluffiness as dense buds tend to burn hotter. The high gently creeps up on you, electrifying the senses, but surprisingly syrupy smooth on the nerves for a pure sativa. This is great “outdoor” medicine, perfect for active patients in need of relief from nausea, migraines or PMS.
