Crown Royale
“Royale with Cheese” was forever immortalized in Quentin Tarantino’s 1994 film Pulp Fiction, as Jules and Vincent discuss the subtle differences between America and France. While French Canadians have whiskey, Americans are known for bourbon. And Federation Seeds of Canada is definitely recognized for its high-flying sativa, Crown Royale. We found that Rocky Mountain Wellness Center in Lakewood carried a slight twist on Crown Royale, so we had to give it a shot. We didn’t pick up on any notes of whiskey as we broke it up, but pungent citrus aromas and a little pine were left on our fingers for a while. This cross of Mikado and an unknown Hawaiian sativa was an excellent mood enhancer, making everyone chatty—even causing a case of the infamous giggles. Unlike a night of heavy whiskey drinking, the effects were clean and any comedown was tapered and subtle. There was a noticeable uptick in appetite as well, making Crown Royale an ideal strain to bring to an old diner to catch up with a friend. Just watch out for Jules and Vincent.
