Slightly Stoopid

With all the haters in the world these days, it seems like no better time to get your reggae on. Yes, the smooth Jamaican beats that speak about justice and loving your brothers and sisters is still alive and strong, and with modern bands like Slightly Stoopid giving it a twist and mixing it up with punk, blues and hip-hop, there’s no time like the present to groove and unite. Hailing from the surfy Ocean Beach, Slightly Stoopid is a feel-good band right down to its budding toes—in fact, check out the band’s longtime standard, “Sensimilla,” on a moony mellow night. Opening for the boys are L.A. ska band The Aggrolites, who made a splash on the kids’ show Yo Gabba Gabba! two years ago with the song “Banana” (because we all need our potassium!) and Perro Bravo, whose song “San Clemente” evokes the very best of sun-kissed SoCal beach rock for indie and retro lovers. They’ll all be gathered together at this greener than green show, so get your riddim on and share the love.
